To make it even easier, Pets in the Classroom has created a customizable Classroom Pet Wish list designed specifically for teachers.
This printable tool allows you to personalize your list with:
- Your classroom pet’s name and photo
- Specific items your pet needs, from food to habitat supplies
- A message to families explaining how the pet supports student learning
When families understand how a pet contributes to daily lessons and student well-being, they’re more likely to engage and contribute. Sharing your wish list at the beginning of the year, during conferences, or in classroom newsletters can spark meaningful support.
Go Digital with a Chewy Wishlist
For an easy, shareable online option, teachers can also create a Chewy Wishlist. Think of it like a gift registry for your classroom pet—choose the exact food, habitat items, and enrichment products your pet needs, and supporters can purchase them directly. Items ship straight to your home or school, making the process seamless.
You will need help getting started. Please email us at info@petsintheclassroom.org and we’ll help you set up your Chewy Wishlist. Chewy adapted their shelter program for our program, so you will need special instructions and your Pets in the Classroom ID during setup.
Additional Ways to Invite Support
There are many simple ways to make contributing easy for families and your broader community:

- Request gift cards from Petland or
- Include your favorite local pet retailer to support small businesses in your community
